Frozen Pipes

OK so the water was dripping I decided to relax, and went into the bedroom to watch a couple of movies before I fell into dreamland - I did that. I was getting ready to wash my tea glass and make sure everything was ready before I went to sleep, went to turn up  the water and NO WATER!! I left it dripping WTF?! Leave it to me drip water and go watch a movie instead of staying up all night to keep my eye on the water like I did the night before when it got as cold. Sound about right to me!! LOL. Anyway, I was up for the rest of the night/morning anyway trying to do something about it.

I have the pipe outside right where it connects to the hose DOUBLE INSULATED!!
Double insulated and then wrapped with a tarp so the weather doesn't get to it and rot it quickly.
How can this happen? Well easily, it's outside in the cold and the aluminum on the
camper isn't insulated.. metal on the pipe freezes quicker than the PVC pipes.
Freezing cold air, metal and aluminum in 19 degree weather.. so insulation
really doesn't help it at all. Really doesn't help with the pipes and the connection
under the couch were no heat was getting to it. Nothing but freezing cold air
getting to it - that's a big problem.

So I open up the cabinets from under the couch and point 2 heaters full blast that direction. Hot under there but still no running water. I even put more insulation around the area outside where the water hooks into the camper from the hose, rewrapped it and put a blanket over that! LOL! Still nothing.

FINALLY I moved a couple of things out from underneath the couch and put those 2 heaters under there right next to the to where the water pipe comes into the camper... within a few minutes the water started with a stream.

Don't worry about that old pipe ya see it's plugged up and covered outside.
It's the ones that are running lengthwise and the tee that connects
them to the outside connection that is trouble.

The water just starting to stream well!!
At least I have this much.

The heaters had the cold water on the kitchen faucet running in a short time this way - to a full flow fast. BUT the water in the bathroom is NOT working nor do I have hot water in the bath or kitchen. I bet the hot water heater is frozen in this weather.. that's ok as long as it thaws out just fine later on... as long as I have cold running water I can heat water on the stove if need be. I did that for 2 1/2 years - that includes hot water for bath!!  And the pipe towards the bathroom must be frozen. Just give it more time and I hope to report back with good news LOL.

The temperatures at around 7:45 this am!!

OK - when a hard freeze occurs - leave a stream of water NOT a just a drip, will have to open up the cabinets under the couch so heat can get to that pipe and going to reinsulate the pipe outside. MAYBE that will combat this problem. :)
