From Feb 2 to Feb 8th we were without power due to this winter storm. Trees downed many powerlines, the transmitters were damaged and the electric company had to replace them and energize them before they could begin the process of getting the power back on. It was a terrible storm. BUT we are all safe and have power on again. What a week! 7 days of unexpected "camping".

Picture this: Me running down a dirt road in my pajamas and house shoes in the drizzling rain - running after the electric company truck. -- TRUE STORY!! That's what happened. I did catch up with him and I had to tell him of the trees on the power lines in our yard before they got the electric back on. I must have been a sight!!

Had a scare of a lifetime tonight too, before the power went back up - a big van with red lights flashing on top and speeding into the driveway (looking like an ambulance) then 3 more speeding trucks passing us by.. All that mess was electric trucks doing some last minute checks before turning on the power again. Scared the crap out of us! We all are fine!!

Snow - March 11, 2022

Snowing today. Here it is March and the snow is pouring down in southern Arkansas. Below freezing outside as well. Raining off and on as well. Interesting weather we're having. Winter came again for another round before Spring sets in.

Emergency Orders 2022

Last week the electric was out for 2 nights - we ordered us a propane/butane stove - it runs on either. We can atleast have coffee and make something to eat now.

We want to get propane heaters plus oil & battery lamps before next winter gets here. We also need to get a few more candles as backups. These things are next on our emergency items to get.

Feb 2022 Winter Storm & No Power

When we woke up, it looked like this outside and no electricity. Our electricity was out for around 30 hours. It came on for 45 minutes then right back out again for another few more hours. Temp inside the trailer was 40F when we awoke this morning. Anyway, electric back on now - getting warm in the house again. Hopefully it's restored for good now.

Snow 2021

A very cold day today - never experienced temperatures so low before.

Made some Snow Ice Cream this morning.

Update: 2/18/2021

The back porch - about 18 inches of snow. It finally stopped snowing.

The weather is suppose to warm up again after today.

As usual I'm having my yearly LotR trilogy Yule Fest watch.... The last two years have been extra special watching the trilogy. This year I'm also talking to a special U.K. friend while enjoying the films and day.... making an even better holiday for me.💖

Pepper is with Mama

I was just thinking...

My Mom's birthday is upcoming (Dec. 11th) -- Lost her almost 22 years ago. And I lost Pepper this month (Dec. 7th). Pepper is now with Mama. Christmases are getting a little bit lonelier for me each year... even my grandparents are gone now... strange the things you think about when alone.

Upside is, I still have my 2 girls. I don't have children of my own and my cats are just like having kids... I've still 2 girls with me and we are preparing a very nice Christmas again this year... but this one a little extra special this year.

Lonelier

It is quieter and lonelier without Pepper here... I miss him very much. But I'm at peace knowing he's out of his suffering and pain. My dream last night about him really helped me - I guess it was a coping dream - but a nice one.

I'm finding I miss talking to him all the time. He was inside most of the time with me... I got so used to talking to him and I don't have that anymore. Helps that it's getting cold outside and Nut-Nut is staying indoors more often. I've always talked to the girls too but now I have to direct all my talks to Nut-Nut only and Honey when she decides to come inside. Strangely, it will be the winter forcing my girls to stay indoors more often that will help ween me off my talking to Pepper... but I'm at peace.

Getting ready for the upcoming holidays! (Winter Solstice, Christmas Eve/Day and New Years).

Things are now re-freshened... I believe all traces of the contamination from Pepper's disease is gone (I'm hoping) --- what he had was contagious. Just got laundry to clean tomorrow - I hope to get that done then.

Got Pepper's other favorite (clean) comforter on the bed - the the other is in need cleaning.... just in-case the girls want to start sleeping with me again this winter. The girls also always love these comforters too - just as much as I do. Nice and warm for the winter ahead!

The girls just finished their dinners... kissed them good night as usual -- both are in their favorite drawers for sleeping now and doing good.

I'm not overly hungry this evening... thinking of one more cup of coffee to relax and unwind with... got some soft music playing. Sitting in the dark alone with the girls in their most favorite spots for the winter (their drawers - haha). Feeling bored, tired, and somewhat content this evening yet restless since I don't have my boy to check on anymore. I'll get used to it.

Recipe: A Witches Cauldron of Chili

A Witches Cauldron of Chili (Substitutes in parenthesis)

1 1/4 Pounds ground goblin gizzards (ground beef 15%
fat) *Vegans and Vegetarians leave out the ground goblin gizzards

1 Medium eye of Cyclops (onion)

1 15 Oz. Can soft shelled beetles (kidney beans)

1 28 Oz. Can blood of bat (V-8 juice)

1/8 Teaspoon pureed wasp (prepared mustard)

1/4 Teaspoon common dried weed (oregano)

1 Dash Redtailed hawk toenails (crushed red
pepper)

2 Teaspoons ground sumac blossom (chili powder)

1 Teaspoon hemlock (honey or sugar)

1/2 Cup fresh grubs (sliced celery)

1 Tablespoon eye of Newt (pearled barley)

1 Tablespoon dried maggots (uncooked rice)

Water from a stagnant pond (tap water)

Preparation :
Substitutions are in parenthesis. Best made during the last phase of the moon, if that is not possible, just do the best you can in a softly lighted kitchen after dark.

Brown the gizzards in an iron cauldron over a fire made from the siding off of a haunted house, add chopped eye of cyclops and simmer until the pieces of eye become translucent again, add blood of bat, and soft shelled beetles, bring to a slow bubbling boil. At this time, add the common weed, maggots, toenails, sumac, grubs, hemlock, eye of newt and the pureed wasp.

As it cooks you may want to adjust the consistency with pond water. You can tell it is done when the eye of newt swells and the vertical tan colored 'cats eye' appears on one side.

Hail Storm

We had a hail storm this evening. Hail is done for now... WOW... Pea sized hail all over the porch! Winter is almost over with - spring in a couple of weeks. Tonight daylight saving time begins.
