My First Total Eclipse

 

Today is the first total eclipse I've ever witnessed! Gorgeous!  

We weren't in the path of 100% totality but more like 99% - it was still incredible!!

Winter Sky

 Check out how blue the sky is at 6:30am... we have rain coming in.
Amazing how dark blue it is... it appears to glow!

 

Winter Storm 2023

 

From Feb 2 to Feb 8th we were without power due to this winter storm. Trees downed many powerlines, the transmitters were damaged and the electric company had to replace them and energize them before they could begin the process of getting the power back on. It was a terrible storm.  BUT we are all safe and have power on again. What a week! 7 days of unexpected "camping". 

 

Picture this: Me running down a dirt road in my pajamas and house shoes in the drizzling rain - running after the electric company truck. -- TRUE STORY!! That's what happened. I did catch up with him and I had to tell him of the trees on the power lines in our yard before they got the electric back on. I must have been a sight!!

 

Had a scare of a lifetime tonight too, before the power went back up - a big van with red lights flashing on top and speeding into the driveway (looking like an ambulance) then 3 more speeding trucks passing us by.. All that mess was electric trucks doing some last minute checks before turning on the power again. Scared the crap out of us! We all are fine!! 

Snow 2023

 

Electric in and out due to the ice... below freezing temps but not suppose to last too long. 

Snow - March 11, 2022

 

Snowing today. Here it is March and the snow is pouring down in southern Arkansas. Below freezing outside as well. Raining off and on as well. Interesting weather we're having. Winter came again for another round before Spring sets in.

Emergency Orders 2022

 

Last week the electric was out for 2 nights - we ordered us a propane/butane stove - it runs on either. We can atleast have coffee and make something to eat now.

We want to get propane heaters plus oil & battery lamps before next winter gets here. We also need to get a few more candles as backups. These things are next on our emergency items to get.

Feb 2022 Winter Storm & No Power

When we woke up, it looked like this outside and no electricity. Our electricity was out for around 30 hours. It came on for 45 minutes then right back out again for another few more hours. Temp inside the trailer was 40F when we awoke this morning. Anyway, electric back on now - getting warm in the house again. Hopefully it's restored for good now. 

Snow 2021

 About 6:30 am - looking off the back porch. Snow is still falling.

 

A very cold day today - never experienced temperatures so low before. 

 

 

Made some Snow Ice Cream this morning.

Update: 2/18/2021

The back porch - about 18 inches of snow. It finally stopped snowing.

The weather is suppose to warm up again after today.

Saharan Dust Plume

Here is what the Saharan Dust Plume looks like here in my area of Southern Arkansas. 

It's in the upper atmosphere - not low to the ground - thankfully!
It basically looks like a very cloudy day out there.

Tornado Scare 3 Years Ago

This day 3 years ago - we had a tornado come though Gould, Ar.

It was small thankfully just missed us here where I live. 

I'm actually still shaken from this - living in this camper.

The memories of this day are still vivid.

Today we have tornado watch - and yes it "feels scary" outside.
Now a severe thunderstorm warning...

Feeling MEH!

Okay - let's see... 4 1/2 hours of no running water that I am aware of. I sat out my large pot to catch rainwater - guess what it's barely sprinkling rain since I did that, so no rainwater yet. I've got 1/2 gallon of water left for using.

I'm getting hungry now - not enough water to wash dishes. No lunch meat - trying to find something solid to eat that won't require much water to wash the pan afterwards.

I'm bored as hell currently, still blasting my music (although my speakers aren't very loud - small speakers haha), sitting on FB doing my usual FB stuff, cats finally settled down, -- but I'm still trying to find something quick to fix with little clean up after and something to do.

I'm feeling "out of sinc" - like everything is in chaos - yet it's not nearly as bad as it seems when I view it realistically.

The last few days have been just too much for me - really wild month I've had and it's not over with yet. Haha! 

 

 

Almost Winter Solstice

Winter 2018 begins Friday, December 21 (in 13 days)

I will watch the snow fall on Pepper's grave this winter and I hope be able to smile with the fond memories of times with him.

Early Snowfall

Snow on the porch - surprised to see it so early this year! I'm in southern Arkansas and we rarely see snow as it is -- but so early?!! It's only 11-14-2018!! Usually waits until Jan and Feb for any snow in the parts (most of the time).

Update: Still snowing!! Ground is almost covered now!!

Hopefully this will be a peaceful snowfall for the rest of the day.

Beef Stew

I made a beef stew tonight - been hungry for one.

Suppose to be bad weather tomorrow so I made it tonight - heat and eat tomorrow.
I've got 2 large bowls w/lids to put in the freezer and 2 small bowls w/lids to put in the fridge to eat on for the next couple of days. Eating a bowl of it now!! Turned out good - pleased with it.

Weather prediction for tomorrow - eek!

Roof Leaking Again

Rains finally arrived. Roof is leaking in 3 places... ordered some Flex Seal maybe that will help a little. 2 bedroom leaks, 1 kitchen leak. Grrrrrrrrr........

Tornado Watch Halloween

WOW We are under a Tornado Watch right now

- The weather radio just sounded off, then I double checked with the weather channel app.
Happy Halloween for sure - this is truly scary. Just hope it doesn't upgrade to a warning.

Update: We're under another Tornado Watch - two of them now - another issued.

Halloween 2018 - Stormy Tomorrow

Looks like we're going to get Thunderstorms here tomorrow for Halloween!!

Not Feeling It This Year

The weather has cooled down - feels like Autumn here, but I'm just not feeling like Halloween this year. 5 days left to go - maybe it'll hit me before the 31st but it's doubtful. Feeling deeply depressed again... trying to get into the holiday spirit but it's simply not there. I'm devoid of holiday spirit this year.

Roof Leaking Again

And the roof decides to leak again in the bedroom. Suppose to rain for the next few days - not good.

This damned bedroom roof has been patched up several times -- and it starts leaking again! There is a TARP over it too -- yet, leaking though it now. NEXT Month I'm gonna get up there with with roof sealant and try again....

I'LL do it this time, - I've had family to show me how to do it and what to get for it a couple times already (because they did it) - my turn to do it!! Hahaha - Next month.

We had a storm a couple of months ago -- with some hail -- I bet that is what re-damaged it !!

HOT in the Camper

I'm NOT lying when I say it's HOT in this camper all day long - even with the little AC unit I have.... It's right at 92 degrees right now in here and it's almost 5:30 in the afternoon.... I sweat all day long in here. -- This is why I have an indoor thermometer... to keep an eye on the temp in here.
