Plants Dying and Divas

Are your plants dying?   Remember:  “Alright, what changed? Light? Temperature? Water? Drafts? Humidity? Moved Plant? ”

Are your plants dying? Ask first:

  • What changed with light?

  • What changed with temperature?

  • What changed with watering? What about water quality?

  • Are there drafts?

  • Has humidity changed?

  • Did I move the plant?

Plants react to environmental changes far more than people realize.

Divas: Calatheas, Polka Dot, String of Pearls, Peperomia, and Callisia "Pink Panther".

Drama Royalty

  • Calatheas

  • Polka Dot Plants

Slightly Temperamental

  • String of Pearls

Moderately Divas

  • Callisia

  • Peperomia (Peperomia’s main rule: don’t drown it.)

Very Easy

  • Pothos

  • Haworthia

Nearly Indestructible

  • Air plants (once you learn soaking)

  • Lithops (as long as you don’t overwater)

Golden Rule: Watch the plant, not the calendar.

Second Golden Habit: Pick up the pot. Dry soil feels light, wet soil feels heavy.
