Nut-Nut's Hurt Foot

Nut-Nut's left paw got hurt early this morning. I have no idea what happened. But she came in this morning limping. I looked at it and it's a little bit swollen... she ate then went to bed. I checked on her all the time she was sleeping and got a good look at it then: no blood, no scratches, no bite marks, all the fur is there, no tears, no thorns, no puncture wounds - nothing! She's not babying it either. She awoke later on and ate, went back outside for a bit. She tried to run just a little bit on it but then quickly sat back down and didn't put any pressure on it (she had it kinda lifted in the air).. I brought her back inside.. she ate and went back to bed. She's not walking on it much today and walks with a hobble/limp but she seems to be doing well with it.

All I know is, at 4am this morning she wanted outside for a bit, usually to go potty, and I let her out. She didn't come back in quickly in this cold this time... she wanted to stay out, so I went back to bed. A few minutes later I heard a loud yowling sound - I've never heard this particular cat sound but you can tell the sound of a cat, even Honey cat heard the sound and jumped up from her sleeping spot. I ran out with a flashlight calling and looking for her.. Honey ran out under the camper then. Nut-Nut didn't come in nor did she show herself to me. So I figured she was shaken pretty badly and just needed some time before she came back inside and went back to sleep. I awoke about 2 or 3 hours later and she ready to come inside that's when I noticed she was limping on that foot and checked it and was a little bit swollen.

I'm trying to think of what it could have been.. what could have happened to her. The yowl came from behind where to fences met and some bushes there. Way to cold for snakes (but once in while they do move in the cold).. so I doubt a snake. I also doubt dirt daubers this time of the year too - we've been below freezing for the last few days here. She could have sprained it but how in that corner? She could have stepped down on a branch with a sharp point on it from a broken limb or even at thorn. Another thought, she might have put her paw on that barbed wire fence and got stuck that way. So what it was I'll never really know. I'm going to try to look back there tomorrow by leaning over the fence to see if I can possibly identify the source - maybe eliminate it if possible.

The main thing is, she seems to be doing a little bit better this evening.... just have to keep my eye on her and keep checking that foot for more swelling.

Poor Nut-Nut she's been snake bitten, stung by a dirt dauber or wasp (not sure which it was), had tapeworms and now this!! She's so sweet and loving but so curious and trusting which is her downfall I'm guessing!

I'll update on how she's doing tomorrow.
